Yamaha bass on the bench for a no output condition.
Root cause was the output socket wiring was shorted, obviously the socket had been loose at some point & rotated twisting the wire, probably when someone tightened the nut. School guitar so who knows.
It never ceases to amaze me how poor the wiring on some of these budget guitars is. Wires are untidy & odd lengths & the only solution is a total rewire but you can’t go to such extremes when the customer just requests you get it functioning again. I replaced the flimsy coaxial socket wire with a twisted pair of more substantial wires.
