The little PRS SE30 tube head was brought in for a re-tube of the output stage, currently a pair of 5881s.
The owner informed me of an issue with the sound which I assume he attributed to an output tube problem. On initial inspection it was found that the 12ax7 labeled by PRS as the ‘clean’ tube in the front end didn’t have a functioning heater. This was replaced which returned the amp to normal functionality.
Supplied with the amp was a new pair of Electro Harmonix 6L6GC tubes to replace the installed 5881s.
