Samson Rubicon R5a monitor diagnostic reveals an amplifier issue manifesting as DC on the output of the low frequency amplifier. The 5″ cone is hugely displaced immediately on application of power.
A quick Google search revealed that this is a recognised fault on these monitors. That particular case was bad soldering apparently & as reported by the owner of this unit was intermittent too.
I will post the solution when I have stripped & diagnosed the issue on the amplifier pcb.
