Peavey Classic 50 /50 Rack mount power amplifier @shroprockdoctor.
This unit appears to have had a troublesome past. Prior to this repair the owner has had two hefty bills for repairs & re-tubing elsewhere. Brought in non operational with a blown fuse in the IEC connector. Replaced fuse, quick visual and then slowly powered on variac & light bulb current limiter. Unit started the limiter glowing just the other side of 30vac.
A diagnostic @shroprockdoctor has revealed a faulty output transformer. Removal of the faulty transformer allows the remaining good channel to operate.
Not sure whether this has been previously changed as it doesn’t have Peavey labels for part numbers & is very slightly different physical dimensions to the unit for the other channel.
Now to source a replacement in the UK.
